Protective Mama......

I was getting ready to cut this vine down. It got away from me this year, with classes each weekend until June 19th. But, as I came close, I discovered a nest, but no Mama bird. So, I waited, and the next day saw the Mama protecting her "babies-to-be".
She was definitely watching me. I wanted to get close with my macro lens, but opted for a distance one, not to get her worried.
I'm looking forward to seeing the little beaks poking out of the nest.

Beautiful Brooke.........

This is my beautiful niece Brooke. I visited her and her mom yesterday and she was so kind to let me take pictures of her. What made me feel good was, as soon as we got back in the house, she said she couldn't wait to see the pictures. I was happy to oblige, as I usually want to view the pictures I have taken as soon as I get back inside. I was helping her mom, my sister-in-law Kim, while she was viewing them and heard her say, ......"oh, love how my eyes look in this one Aunt Linda". That is what I was hoping for, because I love how pretty her green eyes are!

Oh my...photography can be so addicting! Wanting and striving to get clear vibrant detail in every picture is so fascinating to me! I am glad she let me practice on her......I couldn't have had a better subject with such beauty to capture!

I'm feeling bad that the kitten seems to be getting all the exposure lately. So, I thought I'd post some of Mason and Jade. These two do not like sharing the limelight with Colby all that much. It seems that their favorites have become his favorites.......toys, beds, blankets and even food bowls. Colby just wants to hang like the big guys after all. Mason and Jade haven't learned to share very well yet......reluctantly, they eventually give in. Maybe when his playful.....in your face, play with me attitude changes, they will be more accepting.

Meanwhile.......one day at a time guys......one day at a time!

Simply the best...

It was the best Father's Day for my father. Last week, as he visited my mother, she had trouble reconnecting him. At church he said to me, "I hope today with mom is better, she did not know who I was last night". So, all I could do was think and pray, 'God please let it be a good day with my mother today, my father needs that'. He visits every night, even when she does not know who he is. He just acts like an old friend of hers, or in her mind, her father's. I can't imagine what that would feel like..... if my husband did not know me, how crushed I would be. I realize it is the effects of the disease, but it has to be so defeating.

My father is my pillar of strength! No matter the adversaries in his life, he tries to keep a positive outlook. I think of what I have learned the most from him.....simply be true to yourself and honest with others, never apologize for your beliefs, treat others as you would want to be treated and one most important lesson.......model what you want your child to follow! Dad, I am so very proud of you.....the man, the husband, the son and the father you have been. I am simply....one very lucky girl to be blessed with you as my example!

Well, God answered that prayer and it was priceless to see his joy! Most important was the look in my mother's eyes after they shared a kiss. Oh yes! She knew who this wonderful man was! Simple little things like that mean more than anything!

I love you so very much my dear father! Thank you for being a man of great character!

Just can't get enough....

I can't seem to get enough pictures of this little guy. He is just so cute with his playful antics.

His favorite place to sleep is up around your neck. My hubby was watching TV and he just climbed up and made himself comfortable.

Lord help me when I have a grand child......I'll be blowing up a camera or two taking pics!

See if you can........

My son challenged me to see if I could focus on his face past his hand. Not too bad!

Kittens are............

Kittens are so fun to spoil!

This kitten loves people food and will go to great lengths to get a taste. Until recently (he's been declawed in his front paws), he would climb your leg for a bite!
My hubby loves to spoil Colby and will give in to his little antics.....like this, "how can you resist this cute face " look he's giving the hubby.

One quick swoop and he took the whole piece, instead of the cute little nibble we assumed he'd take!

So now smaller pieces!

That was good!

Now for a rest and a little bird watching in his new throne....I mean bed!

He's got us wrapped!!!

Coronation Ball..........

Wow, this school year was busy. I just realized I forgot to post these pics of my son with his friend Leah. They attended the Coronation Ball in April. Leah is 2nd runner up for Miss Niles/Brandywine 2009 and she chose to take Colton as her date!

Such a beautiful girl!

They had enough of the traditional poses.......

and once again........I just love to see that wonderful smile from my son, because it means he's happy. For that, I am most grateful!

Perfect ending...........

My students surprised me with a dozen roses, a gift card, fragrance diffusers and cards. The best part was they each wrote a little note to me about how I have made a difference to them. I was so surprised and extremely grateful!

It was simply.............the perfect ending to a great year!

A shared interest.......and a time to bond!

More pics from the macro lens. My son takes credit for the flower pics and those of Colby. I tried out my skills on photos of my son. We are looking into lessons, as we both just shoot in automatic. Seems like such a waste not to fully utilize all the features of the camera.
Next, I will try to learn Photoshop. I downloaded it, but can't seem to understand where to get started. That is the thrill of photography for me, so much to learn!!

I really like the above and below shot of Colby!

Liked this one......

My son found this location to shoot and I loved it!

I love this one of him!
