It is hard to forget...

This was my baby Turcoin. Actually it was my son's cat. We picked him out on my son's 7th birthday. He named him Turcoin for his turquoise colored eyes and orange for his nice coat of fur...thus Turc-oin..the two sort of blended together. We had to put this cat to sleep one year ago today and it was the worst circumstances. It was his 7th birthday exactly! I had taken him to a vet two weeks prior because of a urinary track infection. He had them so bad that one time he was completely blocked and we had to pay $975.00 to unblock him. He suffered from urinary problems always. Anyway, this vet (our regular one suggested him because she was on spring vacation) prescribed him diazapam to help relax his urinary muscles. Usually this med is used to treat seizures in cats. It was so strong, Turcoin hated it and acted funny on it. I called the vet a few days after he started it and they reassured me to keep him on it just 1/2 the dose. Sad thing is that a very small percentage of cats can't tolerate this drug and it destroys their liver. It was so toxic to his liver that he went fast! It was hard to watch him suffer. As I posted below, we had put Ginger down five days earlier. It was one sad time for the Ditto household!!! We miss you Turcoin. We all reflected today on what we liked best about him, it would have to be how he played hide and seek and chased us through the house if we ran. I loved his playful personality!
